Pioneer Plane LLC — Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Pioneer Plane LLC ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website, mobile applications, keyboard extensions, and other software products (collectively, "Products"), including SignalSense, File Dispatcher, and any future products.

By using our Products, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, do not use our Products.

2. Information We Collect

We collect as little information as possible. Here is what we collect and, equally important, what we do not collect.

Information You Provide Directly

  • Email address — if you sign up for product updates, beta access, or contact support.

  • Support correspondence — if you email us, we retain that conversation to provide support.

  • In-app purchase records — subscription status is managed by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription tier but do not receive or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing address.

Information Our Products Process But We Never See

  • SignalSense message content — When you use SignalSense to translate or analyze a message, the text is sent directly from your device to the third-party AI provider (such as Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or OpenAI) for processing. The AI provider's response is returned directly to your device. Pioneer Plane LLC does not receive, intercept, store, log, or have any access to the content of your messages at any point in this process. We have no server infrastructure that handles your message content.

  • File Dispatcher file content — File Dispatcher processes files entirely on your Mac. No file contents are ever transmitted off your device. If you enable optional AI-assisted categorization, only file names (not file contents) may be sent to your chosen AI provider for classification purposes.

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

  • Conversation profiles — relationship types, participant names, communication trait selections.

  • Translation preferences — preferred modes, tone settings, customizations.

  • Translation history — records of past translations for your reference.

  • App settings — theme, freemium status, selected AI provider.

All of this data is stored locally on your device using iOS/macOS on-device storage. It is not transmitted to Pioneer Plane LLC or any third party. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes this data. We cannot recover it for you.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect keystroke data, typing patterns, or keyboard input beyond the specific text you actively submit for translation.

  • We do not collect contacts, call logs, location data, photos, or any other device data.

  • We do not use analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers, or fingerprinting.

  • We do not collect browsing history or information about other apps on your device.

  • We do not collect or store biometric data.

3. SignalSense Keyboard Extension — Full Access Disclosure

SignalSense includes an iOS keyboard extension. To function, the keyboard extension requires "Full Access" permission on your device. iOS displays a warning when you enable Full Access stating that the keyboard could transmit everything you type.

Here is exactly what Full Access is used for and what it is not used for:

Used for:

  • Sending the specific text you type in the SignalSense input area to a third-party AI provider when you tap the "Translate" button. This is the only network call the keyboard makes.

  • Reading your current conversation profile and translation mode preferences from the shared App Group container on your device.

Not used for:

  • Logging, recording, or transmitting your keystrokes to Pioneer Plane LLC or anyone else.

  • Monitoring what you type in other apps.

  • Collecting passwords, credit card numbers, or any sensitive input.

  • Transmitting any data to Pioneer Plane LLC servers. We do not operate message-handling servers.

Full Access is required solely because iOS does not permit keyboard extensions to make any network calls without it, and network access is necessary to reach the AI provider's API. There is no way to provide AI-powered translation without this permission under Apple's current architecture.

You can revoke Full Access at any time in Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > SignalSense. The keyboard will remain installed but translation features will be unavailable.

4. Third-Party AI Providers

When you use SignalSense or File Dispatcher's optional AI features, text is transmitted to third-party AI service providers for processing. The specific provider depends on your tier and settings:

  • Free tier users: Text is processed by Google Gemini (Google LLC).

  • Pro tier users: Text is processed by the default provider (Google Gemini) or, if you have selected a different provider, by Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, or another supported provider.

  • Pro+ / BYO API key users: Text is processed by whichever provider you have configured using your own API credentials.

We do not control how third-party AI providers handle your data. Each provider has its own privacy policy, data retention practices, and terms of service. We encourage you to review them:

We select default providers based on a combination of quality, cost, speed, and their stated data handling practices. However, we cannot guarantee any third party's compliance with their own policies.

API key security: If you provide your own API key (Pro+ tier), your key is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. It is not transmitted to Pioneer Plane LLC. You are solely responsible for the security and usage of your own API credentials.

5. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we collect for:

  • Responding to your support requests.

  • Sending product updates if you opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time).

  • Verifying subscription status to provide the appropriate product tier.

  • Improving our products based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns (such as which translation modes are most popular). This does not involve message content.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing or commercial purposes. Period.

We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • AI Providers — as described in Section 4, text you submit for translation is sent to the AI provider. This is the core function of the product and occurs only when you initiate a translation.

  • Apple — subscription and purchase records are managed by Apple. See Apple's privacy policy for details.

  • Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government request. We will attempt to notify you before doing so unless legally prohibited.

  • Business transfer — if Pioneer Plane LLC is acquired or merged, user information may be transferred to the successor entity. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Data Retention

  • Email addresses (from update signups) are retained until you unsubscribe.

  • Support correspondence is retained for up to 24 months after the last communication.

  • Message content is never retained by us. It exists only transiently during the AI API call between your device and the provider.

  • Local device data (conversation profiles, preferences, history) persists on your device until you delete the app or clear app data. We have no access to or copy of this data.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable measures to protect information under our control, including encrypted communications (HTTPS/TLS) for any data in transit. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

For locally stored data, security is managed by your device's operating system protections (iOS Data Protection, macOS FileVault). API keys are stored in the iOS/macOS Keychain, which provides hardware-backed encryption.

9. Your Rights

All Users

  • Access: You can view all data our Products store by opening the app on your device. We do not hold additional data about you on our servers.

  • Deletion: Uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data. To remove your email from our update list, click "Unsubscribe" in any email or contact us at support@pioneerplane.com.

  • Opt-out of communications: Every email includes an unsubscribe link.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you.

  • Request deletion of your personal information.

  • Opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information.

  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

European Economic Area / UK Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data.

  • Rectify inaccurate personal data.

  • Request erasure of your personal data.

  • Restrict or object to processing of your personal data.

  • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Our lawful basis for processing is: (a) your consent (for email communications), (b) performance of a contract (for providing the product features you requested), and (c) legitimate interests (for product improvement based on aggregate, anonymized data).

10. Children's Privacy

SignalSense is intended for users aged 17 and older. Our other Products are intended for users aged 13 and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@pioneerplane.com.

11. International Data Transfers

Pioneer Plane LLC is based in the United States. If you use our Products from outside the United States, your text may be transmitted to AI providers whose servers are located in the United States or other countries. By using our Products, you consent to this transfer. We rely on the AI providers' own compliance mechanisms (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international data transfers.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via the app, our website, or email. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision. Your continued use of our Products after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
